Water and Shade under Old Trees

 Summer is very dose. Yisitors to Cracow will start looking for places where they can cool down on the first days of the summer heat. Going to an air-conditioned restaurant or pub or to payement cafes seems the simplest solution. But there arę numerous places in and around the city where it is possible to relax dose to naturę and water.

There arę screral public swimming pools in Cracow - the one next to the Wisła football stadium isclosest to the cen trę. Hundredsof sunbathers arę attracted by a pictures±ue but somewhat underdeyeloped lakę in Zakrzówek. It lies at the site of a fbrmer ±uarry, whose steep rock walls together with the surface of the water with its beautiful colour m±kę a wonderful view.
Those who travel a little further out, to Kryspinów near the international airport in Balice, can count on much morę. There is a large lakę at the site of a former sand minę there, witb clean and well preparedbeaches. There arę rifeguards on duty, places to rent swimming e±uipment, and of course places to eat.
If it is resting in the shade of old, big trees that we arę looking for, then it is worth taking a bus to Lasek Wolski, a large forest estending on the hills west of die city, with rnany hiking and cyding tracks and beautiful glades among oak and beech trees, Other attractions in the forest arę the city zoo and the monastery in Bielany,
